I had phoned our paed's rooms and managed to get an appointment at 1:30pm but he just continued to vomit. I knew the only thing that would help Jason was a drip. He was dehydrated and needed to be hydrated again. He basically had nothing left in him, was vomiting bile and his eyes were all glazed. Unfortunately there were no isolation rooms (we need one because of Jason being immunodeficient) but that was the least of my worries we had no choice he needed a drip. He continued to vomit the whole day. Dr. P had ordered a whole lot of bloods but with Jason being so dehydrated they battled to find a vein and get blood. We had 3 nurses and the pathology nurse. Every attempt there was no blood. Eventually on their 6th attempt they managed to get 3mls of blood which enabled them to do the full blood count and blood culture. We decided to wait for the other bloods until he was hydrated enough to get blood. When Dr. P saw Jason in the late afternoon yesterday he was still vomiting. The bloods showed that his platelete were high which was more than likely due to the dehydration and his lymphocyte levels were low but nothing really indicating an infection. We also did a urine test. Dr. P decided that he would do xrays in the morning but he was concerned that Jason may have aspirated while vomiting so to cover this he put him on an iv antibiotic.
With Jason being so unsettled and vomiting so much we decided to give him some vallergan just to calm him a bit. He eventually fell asleep at about 7ish and stopped vomiting. He had his first dose of antibiotic last night as well as Zofran for the nausea. He slept very well and woke up bright and early on Friday morning.
