School : he's doing really well at school. It's lovely to watch him recognize and write his numbers. He can write his name perfectly. His reading is coming along nicely as well.
Therapy : Jason has speech therapy twice a week. Once at school and one hour privately for feeding. His speech therapist is working hard with his eating difficulties and we are seeing great progress. It's definitely a work in progress and a confidence thing but he's doing fantastic and we're so grateful for his speech therapy. They are also working hard on his speech. Occupational therapy he has at school and they are working hard with him on all the areas that he battles with. Swimming, he has Aqua therapy on a Thursday at school and private swimming lessons on a Monday. He is swimming like a champ! Horse therapy he will start next term at school. This will benefit with his tactile issues.
Health : health wise he's doing really well. So far this winter he has managed to heal without antibiotics. He has had two chest infections but we have kept that under control with nebulizing and home meds. Thank goodness for polygam every three weeks as he gets to see his pediatrician to be examined, he's had physio and obviously the polygam keeps him healthy and gives him that boost. We have been fighting fevers for 4 weeks that come and go which is very strange. Not sure what's up with that. We are due to have a colonoscopy and an endoscope in the school holidays which obviously I am not looking forward to. We also need to have renal tests done as his urine protein creatinine is still high even on meds. This will happen most probably next week.
Otherwise we are blessed, his speech is coming along nicely, he's such a happy child. He loves school, his teacher is amazing, his therapists are amazing, his aftercare teacher is amazing and all that assist with his care whilst we are at work put huge effort into his progress. We really have a great team.
Our mission now is to try and sort out his gut issues and figure out the kidney problem. The only way to do this is to go in and see what's going on and do biopsies, bloods and tests for diseases. We are really hoping for some answers.
