We didn´t have a good night at all, Jason woke up at 2am today gagging so had to stop the pump. He was actually very bad and I was getting really worried. Was up from 2am to 6am and by the time he fell asleep I had to get up and shower before doctors rounds etc.
When the doctors did their rounds I asked for them to put a drip up, I was worried about his hydration levels. They do check bloods often to make sure but I would rather have the drip and not stress so much.
I thought Bruce may be able to take over today considering I was so sick yesterday and didn´t get any sleep but when I phoned Bruce at the B&B he sounded terrible, he had been up all night with gastro and vomiting. So I had to hold the fort again. Been up since 2am so pretty tired.
The good news is we had a great meeting with the gastroenterologist today. We discussed Jason´s history of chronic diarrhoea and gagging in detail. She will be doing a couple of tests, blood tests and a biopsy on Monday the 4th to see whether they can determine the cause of his chronic diarrhoea and gagging so that is great news.
I also spoke to the professor this afternoon being worried about the tube weaning program and she is confident that Jason will be able to continue the program as soon as he is free from the rota virus. She said sometimes sick children do well because they have been deprived of food and are therefore so hungry. Hopefully this is the case with Jason.
This afternoon I left a packet of Pom-bar in his cot with him and when I snuck back in the room, he was munching away on them!!! He also eventually swallowed them as well because they melt so nicely in the mouth.
We have stopped the milk because of the gagging and today he was much better, a lot happier and waving hello and talking again.
Well better be off to go and eat my salami sandwich for supper!! Can´t wait for some meat again! You lucky people in South Africa having a holiday and braai day!! GRR.
