Friday, day 1
Our B&B Herschenhoff
Day 1 was a total disaster, it´s bad enough being in a new country for the first time, but added to our trip is the language barrier. Everyone speaks German obviously and not too much english. Our little B&B is stunning, really neat and tidy. It is a really old converted "farm house". Outside there are animals all over the place. Ducks, deer, peacocks and these strange looking creatures called lama´s. The little old lady that looks after the house doesn´t speak a word of english so that was pretty interesting trying to explain or ask anything.
The weather is chilly, about 16 degrees and raining but not unbearable. Outside you just put a nice warm rain jacket and once inside it is very hot with all the heaters going.
We did some investigating to find out where everything is like shops and things. All the roads are equipped for walking, have lovely walkways and bus stops every few kms. We obviously didn´t know what bus to catch so on the way to the shop which is right by the hospital, a good 20 minute walk we took note of the busses going bye.
We did a lot of walking around like lost souls then eventually found out where the shop was and waited for the bus only to find out that we were waiting on the wrong side of the road and the bus obviously flew right past us. We had a good chuckle and eventually found the bus and made it to the shop, a little shop like our Spar called Billa.
Big mistake going home we decided to be cleaver and catch the bus home because we now knew what we were doing only to catch the wrong bus and ended up so far away and we had no idea where we were. We had to walk all the way back to the shop and then decided to walk home - about 8km!!! We were totally buggered by the time we made it home.
