See didn't I say I may come back and start writing how Jason is eating and drinking like a champion again?? Dam roller coaster ride we are on!!
So after the weekend Monday was disastrous. He wasn't feeling great in the morning and at school he gagged and wasn't well as well BUT Jeanette (the angel she is) still managed to give him 2 x 125ml bottles of purity. When he got home at 12pm he was crying in the car and gagging non stop. He eventually passed out asleep and woke up gagging after a 2 hour nap. He gagged from 12pm until 7pm. There was no ways I could give him anything to drink even water. So Monday night we gave his tummy a break, didn't give him any milk during the night, only water.
Tuesday he woke up feeling much better - what a relief. At school he managed 2 x 125ml bottles purity and unbelievably even I managed to give him purity. I managed 2 bottles as well with water in between. Then before bed he had 230mls paediasure. So in total he had 500mls solids, 230mls paediasure and 350mls water (1080mls orally) - not bad going!
Today he was well as well. We seem to have found a routine now - phew. We manage 4 x 125mls purity with water as well. Tonight I tried his paediasure (formula) and straight away he started getting agitated, scratching his leg, his hands, grinding his teeth and started gagging again! So is it the paediasure?? It seems like it! Well time will tell I guess. In total today he managed (1010mls orally - 500mls purity, 350mls water and 160mls paediasure).
Hmmmm so at the moment it seems like it is the paediasure formula that is causing the gagging? It's so strange. History with Jason shows he always gets his weight up so nicely, can handle a formula for so long and then suddenly it's as if his body rejects it? Oh well we will see how we go without the paediasure. We will continue with the solids (which is fantastic anyway - he is a big boy and doesn't need milk) and we will see how the weight goes. We are doing the bottle foods at the moment for convenience sake and also it's only been a few days that he has taken to solids. I would like to get to a stage where we can progress from bottled food to my own cooked meals. The purity tastes terrible anyway. To me it tastes like mazina (corn flour). Also at school he has been trying yogurt again. Both yesterday and today he fed himself two spoons of yogurt.
I had such a chuckle today. Jason is still getting use to "eating" with a spoon so he isn't the greatest with opening his mouth nice and wide. I am still trying to master the art of getting the spoon in the tiny space he leaves me between his lips and teeth. Anyway Jason HATES getting dirty. While feeding him we ended up missing his mouth a few times. First we messed on his shirt - and off came the shirt. Then we messed on his shorts and off came his shorts. Then lol a spoon dropped on his nappy and off came his nappy. So there he sat naked eating his food at the table. Silly little monkey!
I must say that he is enjoying his food which is great to see. When it's food time he comes running to the table now - a huge difference from what we have had in the past! I can't tell you how wonderful it feels to be able to feed Jason for the first time in his life. It's fantastic!!
So here's hoping the good eating and drinking continues and the weight continues to stay or go up!
I will keep you posted!!
