I can’t believe we are on day 8 already. Little man is doing fine, he is really holding out and is teaching mommy, daddy, granny and grandpa patience. We all know that "one day" he will give in and eat, it’s just a matter of time. We are not going to give in so it’s going to have to be him that eventually caves in!
Night pump feeds went down to 500mls last night which finished at 2:50am. So his milk is getting reduced fast and he is getting hungry!!! His daily calories are right down. He does not see us feed him at all. The milk is started when he is asleep and stops when he is asleep. There are no tubes or syringes around him either. We have stopped both his night medication and his morning medication and I am thrilled that he is medication FREE!!! So that little body of his is detoxing. I can’t tell you how happy I am about that. No more pumping his little body with medication to stop the gagging and vomiting and mucous. I haven’t even needed to use his nose spray for his "chronic sinusitis".
Drinking is still going very well. He actually takes sips and squirts of water and juice throughout the day. Swims at least twice a day, has a shower in the morning and bath in the late afternoon so he is well hydrated. It’s wonderful to see him happily drinking. Amazing in our eyes. He use to take sips but would not swallow, would let the fluids come out his mouth but now he is swallowing a whole lot and his speech is improving wonderfully.
We had a play picnic today, just Jason, myself and Bruce (Granny and Grandpa were busy getting ready for guests for boxing day). Unfortunately play picnic wasn’t a success like yesterday. We actually could tell after 5 minutes but anyway we persevered for about half an hour. BUT he was not having any of it. He just lay there on the carpet and would not get involved. So tomorrow play picnic will be the four or us again and we will see how that goes. I am confident that it will go down well!
His weight is down which is to be expected but I haven’t been able to weigh him for 3 days because the scale broke (great timing) but we have managed to borrow a scale. So the reading could be different seen as though it’s a different scale but about 700 grams lost is probably about right.
He is still happy and healthy and still in good spirits. We are all expecting the moods to come soon. We expect by Wednesday he is going to be starving and very, very grumpy and moody. I think we have tough times ahead of us!!
