So Jason started yesterday and he is loving his new school. He wasn't fazed at all by the change and we even had sulky boots yesterday afternoon because he wanted to be at school :-). A good sign indeed. This mommy is so pleased because they have jumped right in and made part of his therapy focus on his eating and oral aversion. This was a huge plus for me. His teacher is a speech therapist as well. What more can you want!! Yesterday he had 10 spoons of yogurt and some water and today 12 spoons and water. They are tiny tastes but the fact that he is happy for a stranger to help him eat is HUGE. Otherwise today I was told he is a leader in most activities and he loves to go first :-) They had a staggered intake - yesterday and today 3 kids and tomorrow the other 4 will join them. So tomorrow will be interesting to have all 7 kids and new friends for Jason.
Feeding is going well. During the week I am managing 600-700mls paediasure orally with a syringe and on weekends 800mls orally with a syringe then of course he still has his night feeds via the pump of 800mls. We are progressing well with the paediasure during the day and managed to move onto Peptamin at night. We have been trying to do this for years but with the nausea and vomiting it hasn't been possible. Now with the new medication and Jason feeling good we have been able to make this change. The change is great as he is now taking his formula orally and gaining weight as well. Neocate is an infant formula therefore not great for weight gain. We are almost there with his calorie requirements. His weight dropped to 15kgs in November and he is now up to 16.4kgs. He hasn't been this heavy ever as far as my memory goes.
