hospital. After Jason’s temp rising to 39.6 at midnight that changed the hope that we would be discharged today. His temps have been ok today with one spike 38.5 otherwise been between 37.1 and 37.9. We finally had a normal temperature before bed tonight.
The diarrhoea is another story. I have changed 16 nappies today so far! From Friday we have gone through a pack of jumbo huggies gold nappies and two packs of wet wipes. Today was the worst by far. When Dr P ordered another stool test I got Jason to sit on the potty and sent the sample in the bottle. The lab phoned the ward when they got it and said no we must send them a stool sample! That was a stool sample that we sent! Shame poor child. So today was definitely necessary to stay in for hydration.
The most frustrating thing for me is still not knowing what Jason has! We have been here since early Friday morning and still don’t know what it is that he has. I personally think he has tick bite fever because the fevers have been really high as well as rotavirus or adeno virus. Jason was bitten by a tick on Tuesday, he has very high fevers, came out in a spotted rash yesterday and when I felt his glands on his neck they were swollen. There is nothing worse than being a parent not knowing what is wrong with your child. I really hope tomorrow we will have the answer. We also have Nicole to think about so it would be nice to know if Jason has something contagious or not.
Tomorrow Dr. P has gone on leave until the 16th Jan and another paed will be seeing Jason. Although Jason is getting better and the fevers are down maybe it will be nice to have a new set of eyes on Jason as he does not know Jason and is not use to his usual signs and symptoms. Also the stool test that was sent off today, maybe that will bring a result tomorrow. Otherwise Dr. P said to me if all goes well and I am happy to go home I must just tell Dr. S tomorrow that I am happy and can manage Jason at home.
It was nice to see Jason happily playing with my camera and his dvd player. As Dr. P said when he walked in this evening. If Jason is watching his dvd’s then you know he is feeling better.
Well it’s time to hit my blow up bed and get some shut eye. Tomorrow is another day!!
