Today we had the DMSA scan which is where a radioactive substance that is injected into the vein, moves around the blood stream and enters the kidneys. It is detected by special cameras and enables the scan to be taken of the inside of the kidneys. The scan shows which areas of the kidneys are working normally and which have been damaged (usually following kidney infections). The cameras are above you and the machine moves around your whole body taking pictures from different angles.
The rest of the day he has been sleeping and is still sleeping. Practically the whole day. He is fine, hen has woken a few times but back to sleep shortly after that.
Shame I saw the dermatologist again today. He came to check on Jason and kindly brought two different things to try that he bummed off a rep. They discussed Jason and he was given these as samples and he kindly gave me a thermal spring water spray (for soothing and anti-irritating) and a skin restorative cream. So very kind of him - not every day you get something for free from doctors! So blessed.
The results of yesterdays test all seem normal. The kidneys are a little small the doc said but nothing of concern to cause any problems. The protein creatinine ratio from Monday was 38 which is still high. Today's results I haven't seen and I assume they are in Jason's hospital file. I haven't managed to do my detective work yet in order to investigate. I think I will wait for the doc tomorrow.
Bruce and Nicole are doing well. I have skyped them a few times. Missing them a lot but they are coping well. We have been blessed by the moms at the home school that shares premises with Jason's school. The moms set up a roster and have been cooking for Jason and Nicole. Unbelievably nice and such a lovely gesture from them. This really helps ease the load and stress levels taking away the worry of what they are eating that side. They are eating like King and Princess and I really hope they don't get too use to all the yummy foods and not want my food when we return. I am also eating like a Queen here as well. The hospital food is REALLY yummy. This chef must have been working in a 5 star restaurant. The food coming out of the kitchen is really amazing. I mean today I had these butternut quiches in filo pastry with veggies. I have never tasted hospital food like this and we have been in many hospitals. The other great thing is I order pureed food for Jason and goodness his pureed meals are amazing - pureed potato, pureed veg, pureed chicken, pureed fish and pureed butternut. It's yummy as well.
Tomorrow Jason will be having a bone density scan. This test measures how much calcium and other types of minerals are present in a section of your bone. It will determine the bone density and strength. I am quite interested to see these results as two years ago the fancy machine at this particular x-ray department that we go to was broken and we were referred to a doctors room in the hospital that had a more inferior machine and not designed for such small children. So I am interested to see these results.
Anyway time for me to get some sleep. Thanks to everyone that has left comments and messages on this website and facebook. I do read them all and I really appreciate every message we receive xxx.
