We did pump feeds today and he was absolutely fine without any gagging or irritation at all. Both doctors were pleased that Jason is looking good and feeling good. They are also both pleased that this mornings urine test shows that the protein in the urine has decreased a bit so the medication is helping. Dr. P is happy for us to go home tomorrow provided tonight goes well and Jason is good in the morning. He is still on iv antibiotics so will have a dose tonight and tomorrow and then I guess we will switch to an oral antibiotic.
Prof B is pleased by Jason's progress and pleased the protein level has come down. He would like to do the kidney tests soon but would like Jason to be healthy (if that's possible) and would also like him to gain some weight. He has suggested (hoorah, happy dance) that we must start challenging Jason with oral feeds again :-). Before we were admitted in April we were doing oral syringe feeds of stews, custards, yogurts, soups and pediasure. We had to stop because Jason wasn't tolerating anything and by the doctors orders we were told to keep Jason on the neocate to give his gut a complete rest in order for it to heal. Bruce and I have been wanting to start oral feeds again but I have been reluctant to because the doctors wanted neocate only. So we have the go ahead now and I will start things slowly and see how he goes. Much better for him to have real food and orally too!!!
So if all goes well we will be home tomorrow with Bruce and Nicole. I spent the afternoon with Nicole while Bruce spent the afternoon with Jason. Missing my baby girl very much and it was so nice to run around after her. She is too cute.
This morning we had Brad and Regan come and pray for Jason and the family. It was so nice to feel the presence of God again and having prayer for Jason. I do have a strong faith but I don't have the pleasure of going to church on Sundays due to our circumstances. To have these two men pray for us was wonderful and very touching. Brad has been coming to pray for Jason often and been a huge pillar of strength for me. Before our April admission we didn't know him at all but he heard about Jason through one of my mom's customers and has been wonderful with coming to see us and pray for Jason. It's wonderful to hear the testimonies of others of healing and one day Jason will be healed completely as well - watch this space!!!
Anyhow as you can see in the picture above Jason is fast asleep peacefully and has taken over the whole bed. It's time to scoot him over and join him and have sweet dreams. One more sleep hopefully, one more sleep :-).
