The last 24 hours has been pretty hectic for us. Lots of ups and downs, highs and lows. Last night again was a VERY restless, sleepless night of high temperatures and diarrhea. Jason's tummy was not right at all. Very bubbly, gassy, bloated and noisy and then of course the very high temperatures which reached 40.2 at one stage. Scary stuff when the medication isn't bringing down the fevers. Really bad runny tummy as well.
But look at our little man tonight?? The way he bounces back is amazing. This morning we still had high fevers but tonight they seem to be much better and more under control. He is still happily watching "Cars" as he had a nice long sleep with mommy today. We were both buggered from last night so managed a nice long afternoon siesta.
So what's the latest on the medical side of things. I am not too sure myself. I have a feeling it is Jason's kidneys and this urology problem. The urine test was repeated for the protein in the urine and the nurses tell me it was still high so I will find out hopefully tomorrow what the next move is. Today I saw Dr. P but he wasn't saying too much. He is taking instructions from Prof B who is onto this case. He is on the ball and I have all faith in him. I do believe that he is looking after Jason and a lot of behind the scenes work is going on. I say this because the doctors are communicating and we had a new fancy antibiotic added today. One we have never used before and I have a feeling that this is for the kidneys and urology problem. I will see Prof B tomorrow and I am sure we will get some more answers. Jason's kidney problem was picked up in utero before he was born but unfortunately this was something that was overlooked and never checked out by the gynae and paed after delivery. It doesn't matter, what matters is if it is the kidney problem they can sort it out and have a plan forward. We will see. As they said yesterday to me "wait and see" and waiting and seeing is what we did and we saw that his fevers were still going up and his bloods showed that his CRP infections levels were high therefore indicating an infection. Problems with bloods is they show when there is an infection and what sort of infection but they don't show where the infection is coming from. Tomorrow hopefully we will know more. So again we "wait and see".
It's just nice to see Jason looking and feeling better tonight. I can't wait for the day we go home and we can take Jason and Nicole to the beach. I want to see him run around and play and do the things he loves.
His feeds seem to be going well. The stomach issues and diarrhea I don't think is related to the feeds I think it's a gut problem that Jason has always had. The Prof has sent off all the info to his contacts overseas and we are waiting for some input there. The Prof has also sent an email to medical aid today in support of our PMB application and has asked them to review the case again. I like this Prof, he is on the ball, he really wants to help Jason and is very clued up and well connected. He knows his stuff and he is a thinker.
How am I doing? Lots of people are asking me this question. I am fine, I am hanging in here. Things have been tough for us. I am missing Bruce and Nicole terribly but Jason and I are hanging around until we can solve these problems. So many people are saying how amazing I am and what an inspiration I am but you know what. I am just a mom, nothing special.
