After yesterday’s reaction the dietician and paed decided to try Isomil 3 which is a soya formula. We had to start slowly at 20mls an hour again due to risk of
reaction. Very frustrating for me and Bruce I. We wanted to at least start it at a decent rate but it’s their call and we have to listen to them and follow the program. The other option is Neocate which is R400 for a small tin. Very pricey but if Isomil doesn’t work we will be trying Neocate. Whatever it takes for
Jason I say. If we have to put him on Neocate, he must have what is best for him so he can get healthy and gain weight again.
Anyway the barium showed no abnormalities. The ultrasound showed that the right kidney has a mild right pelvi-calyceal separation which may be due to VUR. I saw the urologist and he said this could mean that his right kidney is refluxing. Normally urine travels from the kidneys to the bladder. In VUR this is reversed and urine flows back from the bladder to the kidneys. We need to investigate this by inserting a catheter and inserting a dye to see the flow. This will have to be done on Friday in theatre. So Friday we have a little theatre procedure. I am nervous as Jason doesn’t react well to anaesthetic and he is weak. BUT every day we leave it, it could be worse and besides he is never healthy for a procedure anyway. We need answers and soon!
Well tonight Jason’s temp was up again to 39.1. Hi stomach is still making terrible sounds and movements. I am not sure if this is the reaction to the feed or an infection? Time will tell I guess.
Well off to bed. Buggered tonight.
