The vomiting and diarrhea has been really bad. I can't even attempt to feed him and the little water he gets is out long ago. I feel he may have rotavirus but we are still waiting for the stool test result. I could be wrong but it certainly has the same characteristics of rotavirus. I haven't been able to feed Jason since Tuesday night. When he is awake he is nauseous, gagging and vomiting and the only time he is peaceful is if he is asleep otherwise gagging and vomiting 24/7. Its terrible to watch him so ill.
We have given him some vallergan tonight so he at least gets some rest and a break from that constant nausea. Hopefully tomorrow he will wake up feeling a bit better. I am concerned about his nutrition seen as though he is getting none and only on the drip. Dr. P is concerned too and wanted to try feed him this afternoon but there was no ways it would stay in. Just giving him water was difficult. Dr. P has asked Jason's dietitian to come see us tomorrow. Not sure how that is going to help if he can't tolerate anything but I guess worth seeing her anyway. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully a better one.
The bloods showed that his lymphocyte levels are low which means a viral infection. The CRP levels are normal. Dr. P started an antibiotic last night just in case as Jason doesn't have an immune system to fight anything. Today we started another antibiotic to cover any parasites of the gut and we also started nebulizing so covering all bases. What more can you do. It is very frustrating not knowing if Jason has anything or not. We have this many times with Jason where on paper it shows he has nothing yet he is violently ill. Totally bizarre and really annoying. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be, being Jason's doctor and you see him so sick but the tests usually reveal not too much.
Well tomorrow is another day. Hopefully we have an ok night and we get some rest. Jason certainly needs it. His little body needs a rest now. Please all say a little prayer for Jason's healing. I know God is always with us and with Jason and an upliftment in prayer for Jason would be good. He needs lots of prayers for healing and peace.
