I can see Jason is getting better by the amount of energy he has and the boredom setting in also by the amount of talking and showing off to the nurses. Physio went well he had 2 sessions today. His chest was much clearer by this afternoon and suctioning is realy helping with the mucous, as hard as it is to hold Jason down while he screams, it really is helping him.
The paed came in late this afternoon with the results from the blood culture. It turns out that Jason had salmonella and Group D Stethecoccus. Both are pretty rare but are more common in tube fed kids. They are prone to catching bacterial infections from tubes and I guess we have to treat them like new born babies and be careful with sterilizing things. We have also realised that as expensive as it is, his night tubes are going to have to be changed every 2 to 3 days to reduce the risk of infection.
Not nice to know that Jason had that but at the same time at least we know what it is and have an answer.
I can't wait to get rid of all these tubes and his feeding tube. I wake up at least 4 times a night to check on him, he is so prone to infections, his immune system is so down and he really needs to start eating soon.
Today was day 6 of iv antibiotics. We will stay one more night to complete the 7 day course and see how Jason is in the morning. Hopefully we can go home.
