Oh dear, Jasons gagging has started again. He goes through weeks of being perfectly fine then weeks of gagging. No-one can tell us why he is gagging but we understand that it is one of the side effects of the Nissan Fundoplication operation. The procedure is the stomach gets twisted around the oesophagus to prevent reflux which also prevents vomiting and burping. In Jason's case, he had a half wrap so is able to vomit if he is really sick but vomiting is very painful.
It kills us to watch our little man in so much pain and discomfort, we wish we could take it away from him. Jason was just beggining to look good and put on weight now this gagging is going to make him lose again. We cannot give him his required daily calories because feeding him makes his gagging worse.
Just as it seems like we are winning with his weight and food, suddenly the gagging comes again for no reason.
The good thing is the other moms that have been through the tube weaning process say that once they start eating, they never gag again. We can't wait for that day.
