I knew he was looking healthier but I seriously didn't think he had gained it all back. I did weigh him on our home scale and myself and after seeing mine and his weight, I really didn't believe it!! Both because of the weight gain. So I think I have also put on all the weight I lost during Austria!! Oh dear! Going to have to start some promenade walks SOON!!!
Vaughn and all the pharmacists couldn't believe the change in Jason. The way he was chatting away to them. Vaughn said that Jason before Austria wouldn't say anything to her but today he didn't stop. She understood the basic words like no, yes, ok and bye but they had a huge conversation in Jason language! I can only put the "talking" down to the chewing and eating. It must be because he is now using his mouth and tongue to chew and this is helping with the talking.
Well little duracell bunny ran around WILD. Gone are the days where I can take the pram with or put him in the trolley - no ways will he sit in there when he can be FREE. I must say though he is very good, he does listen when I talk to him - think Eva had a big part to do with that, thanks Eva.
Well after our shopping outing the duracell bunny was running out of steam so I ran him a bubble bath, turned my back for a second and there he was adding a whole lot more bubble bath to his water! Had to rinse him off after he was done bathing.
Then no sooner got him out the bath and fast asleep at 5pm. So looks like it will be an early morning for us tomorrow.
I have booked our first speech therapy session on Thursday. I got a referral from Christa, Sheona's speech therapist that was on Carte Blanche medical. She has some experience with dealing with tube fed children and I know of two children that are seeing her at the moment, one that is tube free now too so that is wonderful. Gosh not cheap, first session is R700.00! BUT that is the first assessment and a long appointment and then the sessions are much less after that.
Unfortunately a bit of granuloma has started around the mic-key (tube) site. Granuloma is this nasty skin that grows trying to close the hole. It's the body's way of trying to reject the foreign object (the mic-key) and to close the hole, trying to heal the "wound". So I am now armed with my nitrate stick to burn the skin, kenalog ointment and cicatrin powder to shrink it and eucalyptus oil to heal it. Granuloma can become quite painful and if you don't catch it quick you can end up having to go to theatre to burn it off properly.
I did promise some photos - I managed to take a few pics this weekend. Jason's favourite toy at the moment besides his bicycle is his fishing rod!! What a natural, he knows how to cast, strike and reel in. So watch out uncle Tony and uncle Keeg, Jason will show you how to fish!
