Yesterday morning during breakfast he actually tried mince for the first time. Because he is so afraid of spoons, I gave him a knife and a fork and we couldn't believe it when he started using his knife (a blunt one of course) to scoop some mince and put it in his mouth. I quickly got him a spoon and he started spooning mince in his mouth - unbelievable!! So off to school he went with his mince in his mouth.
At school it was one of the kids birthdays and they had a little party for her. Jeanette (the school teacher) said she couldn't believe the things Jason was putting in his mouth - chips, biscuits, cake and sweets. She was very excited. I also brought him his first box of smarties yesterday and he loved tasting those - they dissolved nicely in the mouth too.
I can't tell you how exciting it is for Bruce and myself to see our little man so interested in food for the first time in his life at the age of 3 years, 4 months!!
I am still trying to get Jason's chest right but it is under control, we have been able to avoid antibiotics so far which is great. Tina our physio is doing a great job getting that fluid off his lungs and out of his nose and throat. Yesterday there was a lot of fluid that we managed to suction out of the back of his throat. After physio he was clear! So physio really makes a huge difference. Got another session today and hopefully by the weekend he will be much better.
Another thing we have noticed since Graz is Jason is a lot more vocal and seems to understand so much more. We are not sure if this is related to the eating but I really think so.
