First of all Happy New year to everyone. We wish you everything of the best for this year. May all your dreams and wishes come true in 2011.
We have had a fantastic festive season holiday with all our family. Over Christmas we went down the South Coast to Bruce's folks (Palm Beach granny and grandpa) and over New Years we spent with my folks.
Christmas was really lovely. We spent 5 fantastic days down the South Coast and really managed to unwind and relax. Jason was pretty well besides this wheezy chest of his that comes and goes and the odd gagging. Feeding wise (via the tube) at one stage we were down to 25mls at a time because as soon as we would go over he would gag. But we are back up to 70mls and have slowly increased it by 10mls a time. Don't want to rush things and the gagging returns.
Anyway over Christmas we had a wonderful time with Bruce's folks and a lot of our really good friends were all down at the same time so we really managed to spend some good quality time with everyone. Jason was in his element fishing and swimming when he could. The weather was a bit dodgy on a few days but we did have 2 days that we managed to go to the beach and swim. Jason was thoroughly spoilt this year, got so many presents which he happily ripped the paper off. He is really into this present thing now!! He got a lovely shinny torch, a race car set, a ball, a blackberry (kiddy one), a radio control car, puzzles, lots of wonderful educational toys, a boogey board, a fishing rod, books, a dvd and clothes. Very spoilt indeed. Granny and grandpa (Bruce's folks) even made Jason his very own big boy bed. Gone is the cot and in with the bed. Jason couldn't believe his luck. He couldn't believe that, that big bed was all for him. Wow he was so excited!! Slept like an absolute baby and when it was time to wake up he would not move off the bed, he would wait for us to come in and fetch him. What a good boy!! So mommy and daddy have now ordered him a big boy bed which will arrive end January.
New years weekend was also fantastic. We spent the weekend with other granny and grandpa (my folks) and we saw my brother, sister-in-law and nieces. Jason had an absolute ball with everyone swimming until he was blue in the face and flaky but even then he did not want to get out of that pool!! He played so nicely with his big cousins and it was great having all the family together.
I have added some photos under the "Photos" page, "Holiday snaps".
So the New Year is here. Gone is 2010 and 2011 is here with lots happening but all for the good. This is the year that Jason will eat!! The beginning of the year is going to be busy with the repeat MRI brain scan, the EEG, the polygam 3 weekly for his immune system, the psychologist appointments, speech therapy and occupational therapy. All apart of Jason's recovery. We have great doctors on board and I am very positive that we will see results.
Tomorrow (Monday) I am going to a talk on tube weaning. The guy that is doing the talk is from Germany. He is a psychologist that was trained at Graz and branched away and does his own very successful tube weaning as well. It should be interesting to hear what he has to say and how his theories differ from Graz.
Also don't forget to watch Carte Blanch medical on Monday night. There is an insert on tube fed children.
A New Year is upon us all. Stay safe, stick to your resolutions, remain positive and most of all keep the faith!!
