On Wednesday the 2nd March we had our 4th Polygam in hospital. The drip line wasn't as smooth as the last one. The Paed was trying to examine Jason and look in his ears and mouth. Jason will NOT open that mouth and when the Paed brings the stick to his mouth he bites on that stick boy! Clenches his mouth closed and won't let anyone in. The paed has repeated the bloods to check the immunoglobulin levels and we are waiting for the results. Otherwise the day was a pretty smooth day. We are now going to do Polygam every 4 weeks instead of 3 weeks. The paed is very pleased with the improvement we are seeing in Jason. The best news ever for me was the fact that Jason has gained weight from 12.2 to 12.6 so the increase in night feeds is helping.
Occupational therapy is going very well, we have been for two therapies since my last update and Jason LOVES occupational therapy and the therapist. We drive up the hill and he gets so excited knowing where we are going and races in, opens the door whether the therapist is busy or not and announces his arrival. The therapist says that he is doing really well.
Unfortunately we haven't been able to start Speech therapy yet. The therapist was sick last week and we obviously can't allow Jason near any sick people so we are waiting for a new date.
Eating wise he is still putting the odd thing in his mouth. More at school than at home but we do try all the time. At school he sits with all the other kiddies so does what they do. He has taken a liking to powerade for some reason. Not drinking too much but he insists on having a powerade. I popped into the shell garage yesterday and he ran straight to the fridge and insisted I buy him a powerade. I open the bottle for him which usually ends up with powerade running down his chin and neck but that's ok, I don't mind him having orange stains all over him. The idea of drinking is there and if he wants to pretend drink, that's fine. One day he will drink without even realising. On Sunday my folks took us out to lunch for my birthday and Jason was happily tasting granny's wine from the glass - not enough that he would get drunk, just enough to wet his lips and taste. It's amazing how these tube fed children like all the unusual drinks. Brene, Tayden's mom says Tayden likes ginger beer and coke floats!
