Well this last week didn't go too well. It was meant to be my last week of work and Jason's last week of school with break up day on Friday. On Monday 4am when Jason's feeding pump beeped with the milk finished, I went to disconnect the tubes and felt that he was very hot. Trues Bob he had a temperature. I gave him capal and he went back to sleep. When he woke up, he woke up fine and happy but then later started gagging again. I managed to give him 50mls milk via the tube and then off to school and work we went. When we got home again he had a temperature and was gagging and vomiting. Tuesday he woke up happy and seemed fine, no temperature. I gave him 50mls at 7:00am and he was fine on that so I thought I could give him some more milk at 8:00am. Well I should never have done that. He was not feeling lekka. I then put him in the car, he didn't have a temperature but as soon as we got to school I could feel he had a temperature. Wednesday was the same, got him in the car for school and he just vomited all over.
I decided to take him to the paediatrician. We had blood tests taken which showed that the CRP levels were normal. CRP levels are normally a sure sign of infection and when those are high then you know you have an infection. The paed examined Jason. His chest was clear so he wasn't too concerned given Jason's history of gagging and vomiting. So we left the paed with still no answers and a very sick child.
Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday things just got worse. His temps kept going up and down and he just kept vomiting and couldn't keep anything down. For Jason to gag and vomit this isn't unusual but for me the temps were a sign that something was not right. By Friday we just couldn't stop him vomiting and he was only able to keep down about 200mls of milk max. I phoned the paed and he said that we must admit Jason into hospital to investigate what is going on.
