Dear Jason

Hey sweetie how you doing my little man. Well not so little anymore, you are growing into such a handsome little boy and what a beautiful happy nature you have.

It’s been a while since I wrote you a note and decided it was time for an update. Well Rookie mommy and daddy are very proud of you and SO proud of how you are doing with your eating, drinking and school. You have had a rough road the past two years. Last year was the worst year ever with all of the hospital admissions and setbacks with your health. It hasn’t been easy on you and mommy and daddy. With every set back we have delays with your speech, development and eating and drinking BUT that’s ok because we always pick up the pieces and NEVER give up. Your eating and drinking will come in time. As Dr. Shaik always said to us “in Jason’s time”. Well baby you certainly do things in your time and that’s ok as long as you are happy and healthy and always keep trying.

This year you have taken off. Now that we have the right medication for you which took us years to find you are finally more comfortable and able to try and eat and don’t feel SO sick with nausea and vomiting. Shame my babes, not nice feeling so sick like this all the time. Your gagging is better and you are able to try different foods now and we are SO proud of you. Every little thing that goes in your mouth mommy wants to do somersaults and share it with the world. You are starting to eat your yogurt so nicely with a spoon my little bird! With school helping mommy now with your eating and drinking I am seeing such progress with you. They are working with mommy on your sensory and feeding issues. Jase God answered mommies prayers and sent some angels our way and these angels opened a special needs school right here in our town. They are working with you and mommy every day. I couldn’t be happier. You are starting to eat your yogurt every day and some days surprise us by trying other foods. Mommy keeps trying with the sippy cup and would like to get back to where we were two years ago when you were drinking your pediasure so nicely. It’s ok though you had 100mls the other day. It took you 2 hours but hey you did it sweetie, all on your own.

Yesterday was a good day. Despite being in hospital for octagam for the whole day and you getting a temperature we had a good time together. I know it is strange but that is our alone time and I treasure all our time together. I can’t believe how well you are doing with your counting! Counting to 10 now and so nicely!!

Jase you light up my life, you are such an example of a true fighter that never gives up. Everything you go through in life, you just take it in your stride and never let it get to you. Your little nature is amazing and I wish I could be more like you. Not everyone gets to meet their hero my darling, well how lucky was I to give birth to mine!! Keep up the good work my darling.

Mommy, daddy and Nicky love you SO SO much xxx

My darling little man,

Mommy is SO proud of you. I think and look back at how far you have come from being a tiny little baby fighting for his life in hospital at 1kg to seeing you now. My little boy God spared your life as small as you were he had BIG plans for you. You have overcome every sickness that has been thrown your way. As daddy says "you have walked the white line a few times". We have almost lost you so many times but yet you always have proved to us and the doctors how strong you are.

I look at you today and I cannot believe how well you are doing. You have started EATING. At 4 years 9 months you have started eating. Something that "normal" babies and kids do so naturally has been something so difficult for you and you again have proved to us that IN TIME you can do these things.

My love you go to hospital every 3 weeks for polygam. Every 3 weeks mommy has to take you and feel the pain of knowing that they have to put a needle into your arm in order to get your medication and keeps you healthy. You are so brave, you don't even cry - you take everything in your stride. You are amazing my boy. Because you have a low immune system you catch things so easily which normally ends up with you gagging and vomiting all day which is terrible for us to watch. I can only imagine how you must be feeling my sweet heart. BUT always you bounce back and come out smiling. I seriously don't know how you do it. You are absolutely amazing!!

In 2 weeks time your little sister is born. I wonder how you are going to feel about that? Mommy has to go to hospital for 3 days. I am going to miss you SO much but hopefully they will allow you and daddy to visit me and your baby sister every day. I am going to really miss our alone time that you and I have. You and I have such an amazing bond, we are very close and I love you with all my heart. You will be on school holiday soon and we will be able to do lots of bonding time together before your baby sister arrives.

So my little pumpkin - keep eating well like you are doing at the moment. Soon we can remove your feeding tube once you are eating enough to cope without it. I look forward to the day that your tube is removed. Something that has kept you alive and nourished all these years!

My darling you are amazing, a true miracle and a gift from God to mommy and daddy and we love you very much!!! You are such an example to us showing us how no matter how tough things are you can always get through it! You have proved this time and time again to mommy and daddy.

I love you so much.

Love

Mommy
