Today was a pretty boring day in our isolation room. The weather is pretty cold as well. Not as much rain as yesterday, a slight drizzle but it is much cooler than yesterday. We didn't take Jason out, rather stayed indoors.
The endoscope and colonoscopy is scheduled for tomorrow after 12am. Today we went through all the paper work formalities with the doctors and the anaesthetist, discussed the procedure and things. The procedure will take about 2 hours. If there is anything visible that they see whilst in the procedure we will know straight away otherwise we will have to wait about a week for the biopsy test results. The gastroenterologist knows all the pathologists so this is the quickest that we may hear.
The professor is still happy with Jason. Today we gave him 200mls of formula to get his strength up for the procedure tomorrow and he will get 500mls overnight and also be on the drip for fluids. Weight wise he is doing ok, he weighs 11.55 today and we arrived at 11.85 so not bad considering that he hasn't had too much formula.
Today he has had medicine to make him poo and also vinegar water that has been going all day via the pump at 65mls per hour. Not one poo since though, which is strange for Jason but the nurse did say wait, it will happen and I mustn't be alarmed at the amount - lovely, don't think I will get much sleep tonight.
We really hope that we get some sort of result from all these tests and procedures and not get a nothing answer again. There has to be a reason for this chronic diarrhoea and gagging, it can't be nothing.
Anyway I always believe everything in life happens for a reason. Jason got this rotavirus infection and ended up in the isolation ward that happen to be headed by the gastroenterologist so that is amazing. She is a specialist in her field and they have all the latest technology to do all these tests that they require. I think they are also testing his immune system.
We will know more tomorrow afternoon hopefully and I hope that we will get an all clear of the rotavirus too. He hasn't had diarrhoea for 2 days now so he should be and then once the procedure is done, he has recovered and well we can move down to the 5th floor normal ward and can come and go between therapies. Hopefully tube weaning can continue by Tuesday!!
