We had a great session with Eva today - thanks Eva you are the best!!
Eva said Jason is your typical child that wants to do everything for himself, you cannot push him and you cannot force him to do something that he doesn't want to do. If he doesn't want to eat, that's fine, just ignore him but eventually he will eat and eventually he will be hungry enough to want to eat. The same as if he doesn't want to for example come when we tell him to come, don't pick him up, just leave him and walk off and eventually he will realise that he is being left behind and will come.
This is exactly what we did in this session, we were in the play picnic room with a white sheet and a whole lot of things to eat. Eva, myself and Bruce just sat away from Jason eating and sharing Pom-bar chips. We would help ourselves then Eva would give some to Bruce, some to me, some to Jason and some to herself and we would chomp away. Jason eventually started copying us and he was eating as well, all on his own without a fuss. He does put a lot in his mouth, keeps stuffing them in until there is no room but he definitely swallowed a whole lot and definitely got some calories in. He managed to get a half a bag in that mouth of his but he definitely swallowed.
Professor Sheer then came and discussed things with us. He has spoken to the gastroenterologist and they have the results. There is nothing showing why he has this diarrhoea, no parasites, nothing. Everything appears normal. The only thing outstanding is the allergy tests but according to the pin prick test that was all normal as well.
So all in all a good day and it is only 12pm. YAY. All the families that have been through this program have always said it's a roller coaster ride and it definitely is one day a good day and the next day a bad day.
BUT we are taking the good and the bad and we are progressing. Monday we continue with the program and can join play picnic and the plan is just to let Jason do and eat when and where he wants and not to force him. He will do it, he will. A stubborn little man like his mom and sometimes his dad but he will do it.
